UMW Indoor Track & Field Opens Spring at Maryland Terrapin Invite

The University of Mary Washington men's and women's indoor track and field teams opened the second semester at the University of Maryland Terrapin Invitational in Hyattsville, Md., on Saturday.

On the men's side, Daniel Forjan finished fifth in the weight throw at 14.81 meters and seventh in the shot put with a throw of 14.50 meters. Jeff Gibson was 11th in the mile at 4:27.40, and freshman Rajai Walton was fifth in the high jump at 1.93 meters. David Danek was eighth in the high jump, and Ben Onguene was ninth.

Walton was sixth in the long jump at 6.70 meters, and 10th in the triple jump at 12.82 meters, just ahead of teammate Jose Mundo.

Highlights on the women's side included Erin Andrewlevich taking ninth in the 300 meters at 42.81 and 11th in the 200 meters at 26.70, Jillian Weisbeck placing seventh in the 5000 meters at 18:43.39, and Avery Haislip taking 13th in the pole vault at 2.90 meters. The distance medley relay of Olivia Story, Marin Bader, Hannah Huggins, and Anna Balgoyen took ninth at 14:28.71.

Both teams will be back in action next Saturday when they visit George Mason University at 10:00 a.m.
