UMW Indoor Track Opens Campaign at Bast Cregger Invitational

The University of Mary Washington men's and women's indoor track and field teams opened the 2017-18 season this weekend in Salem, Va., for the Bast Cregger Invitational.

On Friday, UMW's Victoria Chanthyasak-White finished fifth in the high jump at 1.53 meters, and Rajai Walton took second in the high jump at 1.98 meters. The men's distance medley relay finished third at 11:08.85, and Kyle Pfohl took fourth in the 5K at 15:53. Jillian Weisbeck capped day one with the highlight of the night, a first place finish in the 5K at 18:31.80.

On Saturday, Sam Gorton finished third in the weight throw at 12.57 meters, Daniel Forjan placed second in the shot put at 14.55 meters, and Isabella Anderegg took third in the shot put at 11.70 meters. Forjan placed fourth in the weight throw at 13.76 meters.

On the track, the women's 4x200 relay finished in first place with a time of 1:47.17. Laurence Sneed took second in the 1000 meters at 2:42.02, with John Gillum taking fourth and Jake Dehetre placing fifth. Kristy White finished third in the 1000 meters, and teammate Olivia Story finished fourth. 

Janel Moore took second in the 300 meters at 42.20, with Erin Andrewlevich placing third. Danielle Beard finished third in the 500 meters at 1:34.35, and Andrew South placed fourth in the 600 meters at 1:29.71.

The Eagles will return to action after the new year.
