UMW Outdoor Track and Field Starts Strong at 2016 CAC Championships

The University of Mary Washington men's and women's track and field teams opened competition at the 2016 Capital Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships on Friday evening in Frostburg, Md.

On the men's side, Daniel Forjan finished second in the shot put to gain all-conference honors with a throw of 45 feet, 9.75 inches. Daniel Usher was sixth in the discus at 41.13 meters, while Forjan placed seventh at 40.81 meters.

For the women, senior Taylor Cockerille finished first in the shot put at 12.74 meters, with Sheree Turner finishing sixth at 11.36 meters. Turner finished first in the discus at 130 feet, 11 inches, while Cockerille finished second at 130 feet, two inches.

The Eagle women are tied for second through the opening day with 18 points, while the men are third with eight points.
