UMW Women's and Men's Indoor Track Returns to Action at CNU Invite on Friday Night

The University of Mary Washington men's and women's track and field teams returned to indoor action on Friday night in Newport News, Va., at the Christopher Newport Invitational, with several top performances.

Sophomore Janel Moore finished first in the 200 meters at 27.35, and took second in the 60 meters, missing out of first in a photo finish at 8.20 seconds. Senior Taylor Cockerille finished first in the shot put at 40 feet, 4.25 inches, and Elysa Baker took first in the weight throw with a toss of 47 feet, eight inches, as UMW finished 1-2-3, with Cockerille finishing second at 45-7.25, and Sheree Turner took third at 44-7.

For the men, Daniel Forjan finished tied for first in the shot put at 43 feet, 10.75 inches, and finished second in the weight throw at 45 feet, 3.5 inches.

Both teams will return to action on Friday afternoon at the Susquehanna Invitational at 4:00 p.m.
