Laychak, Burch, Steele Named to All-C2C Softball Team

Senior Bridget Laychak was one of three University of Mary Washington Eagles named to the All-Coast-to-Coast Conference Team on Wednesday morning, the conference announced. Laychak was named to the First Team, and senior Caitlyn Burch junior Hannah Steele were both named to the Second Team.

Laychak led the Eagles in batting average (.337), RBIs (20), and home runs (2). It's the Springfield, Va. native's first-ever nomination to an All-C2C Team after doubling six times in 2024, too.

Burch, meanwhile, was named to her fourth All-C2C Team after finishing with a 2.25 ERA in 112 innings. Burch went 11-9 in 26 appearances, while raking up a pair of saves, 120 strikeouts, and seven complete games -- all of which led the Eagles. The Mechanicsville, Md. native tossed three innings of a combined perfect game in a 9-0 win over Stevenson on April 9. The Eagles' ace was a First Teamer in 2023 and 2022, while earning Second Team honors in 2021.

Steele, a Woodbridge, Va. native, hit a career-high . 284 in 32 games for the Eagles in 2024, improving on her .214 average from 2023. Steele doubled five times, while stealing 11 bases, good for second on the team.

The Eagles are back in action this weekend in Newport News, Va. for the Coast-to-Coast Conference Championship. The Eagles will face No. 1 Salisbury in the first round of the double-elimination tournament at 2 p.m.
