UMW Softball Falls to Salisbury, 6-1, in C2C Semifinal

The University of Mary Washington softball team dropped a 6-1 decision to Salisbury University on Friday morning in Newport News, Va. in the semifinal of the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference Tournament.

In a game that remained scoreless through two innings, Salisbury jumped ahead with six runs in the third. After an error led off the frame, SU rapped out five hits, with a hit by pitch sandwiched, scoring all of their runs in one inning.

The Eagles drew to within 6-1 in the fourth, as Grace Drury reached on an error, Nya Lloyd followed with a fielder's choice, and Raina Lloyd knocked a run-producing double.

Raina Lloyd and Hannah Steele each had twow hits to lead the Eagle offense. Sophomore Caitlyn Burch took the loss, allowing four earned runs on six hits in 2.0 innings, with no walks and one strikeout.
