University of Mary Washington recent graduates Rishi Charan Shankar and Peter Leese gained a first round victory in the 2024 NCAA Division III doubles championship on Sunday in St. Louis, Mo. Charan Shankar and Leese scored their 34tth doubles win of he season, breaking the school record of 33 previously held by 2004 national champions Paul Bristow and Dan Uyar.

Charan Shankar and Leese defeated host Washington University's Gaurav Singh and Colin Fox, by a score of 6-1, 6-4. The duo will face the winner of a match between Swarthmore College and Gustavus Adolphus College on Monday in quartterfinal round action at 4:00 pm Central time.
