#17 UMW Men's Tennis Blanks Penn State Harrisburg in NCAA 1st Round

The 17th ranked University of Mary Washington men's tennis team wasted little time in defeating Penn State-Harrisburg, 5-0, in the first round of the NCAA Division III Championship on Friday afternoon in Cleveland, Ohio. The Eagles, 17-7 on the season, advance to Saturday's second round.

The Eagles started with a clean sweep in doubles. Andrew Campbell and Brock Ladehoff scored an 8-1 win a three doubles, before Rishi Charan Shankar and Peter Leese gained an 8-1 win at one. Evan Fisher and Trevor Rein finished off the sweep with an 8-2 win at two.

UMW then finished off the win with 6-0, 6-0 wins from Leese at five and Jack Riordan at six. The Eagles will face 15th ranked Johns Hopkins on Saturday in the second round of the NCAA Tournament in Cleveland. The match will be a rematch of a regular season matchup between the two, in which Hopkins won by a 6-3 score.
