#29 UMW Men's Tennis Tops Centre, 8-1, on Wednesday

The 29th ranked University of Mary Washington men's tennis team roared to an 8-1 victory over Centre College on Wednesday afternoon at the Hegmann Family Tennis Complex. The Eagles improve to 9-2 on the season.

The Eagles started the day by gaining two of three hard-fought doubles wins. At one, Rishi Charan Shankar and Peter Leese scored an 8-5 victory over Bo Bush and Ty Bush, and at two, Jack Riordan and Evan Fisher gained an 8-7 win over Ben Rueff and Ashton Whitt.

UMW then swept the singles play for the 8-1 win. Charan Shankar scored a 6-2, 6-4 win at one, Broack Ladehoff added a 6-2, 3-6, 7-5 win at two, and Trevor Rein provided a 6-3, 6-2 win at three. Artis Hart won a 6-2, 7-6 decision at four, Albert Vladimirskiy won at five, 6-3, 4-6, 6-4, and Fisher won a 6-3, 6-4 decision at six.

The Eagles will be back in acttion on Saturday when they visit #13 Swarthmore College at 1:00 p.m.
