
The 29th ranked University of Mary Washington men's tennis team defeated Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference foe Salisbury University, 8-1, on Thursday afternoon in Salisbury. The Eagles improve to 7-2 on the season.
UMW opened by sweeping all three doubles matches. Rishi Charan Shankar and Peter Leese defeated Gianluca Beaujon and Jhayden Pappas, 8-1, at one, and Brock Ladehoff and Trevor Rein were victorious at two, 8-4, over Caleb Brightman and Gurv Suri. Artis Hart and Jack Riordan defeated Aron Bursztyn and Russell Willenborg at three, 8-7.
In singles, Ladehoff defeated Pappas at one, 6-4, 7-6, Hart downed Beaujon at two, 6-2, 6-4, and Rein defeated Brightman at three, 6-3, 6-4. Leese defeated Suri at four, 6-0, 6-1, and Evan Fisher topped Chris Catan at five, 6-2, 6-3.
The Eagles will visit Washingotn & Lee University on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
