UMW Men's Tennis Falls to #14 Denison in NCAA Tourney 2nd Round, 5-2

The University of Mary Washington men's tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision to 14th ranked Denison University on Saturday morning in Cleveland, Ohio. The Eagles close the season with an 11-10 record.

Things looked promising in doubles, as the Eagles scored an 8-6 win at one, as Rishi Charan Shankar and Andrew Watson scored an 8-6 victory over Jack Bulger and Kael Shah, and gained a big 8-7 (3) victory at three, as Artis Hart and Andrew Cooper gained the win over Zachary Portnoy and Andy Mackler.

But the Big Red scored victories at three through six to come back for the 5-2 victory. Watson was leading, 4-3, in the third, and Charan Shankar was in a second set tiebreaker when play was called.

The Eagles close the season having advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the 22nd time, and captured its 25th conference championship.
