
The 18th ranked University of Mary Washington men's tennis team defeated Washington College (Md.) by a 5-4 margin on Saturday at the UMW Indoor Tennis Center. The Eagles improve to 2-0 on the season.
The Eagles claimed two of three doubles matches, with Brock Ladehoff and Peter Leese taking an 8-2 victory at three, and Nick Spera and Artis Hart claiming an 8-7 win at two.
In singles, the Shoremen took wins at one, three, and four, but the Eagles gained wins from Leese at five, 6-0, 7-5, and Jacob Pfab at six, 4-6, 6-2, 6-3. Andrew Watson claimed the win at two to clinch the match, with a 6-4, 6-7, 6-2 win.
The Eagles will be right back in action on Sunday, as they host Stevens Institute at 10:00 a.m.
