#15 UMW Men's Tennis Blanks Frostburg, 9-0, in CAC Tournament First Round

The 15th ranked University of Mary Washington men's tennis team swept Frostburg State University, 9-0, on Friday afternoon in the first round of the Capital Athletic Conference Tournament at the UMW Indoor Tennis Center. The Eagles improve to 19-4 on the season, and move on to host the semifinal round on Tuesday.

The Eagles captured all three doubles matches by 8-0 scores. Moses Hutchison and Matt Miles defeated Derek Thompson and Geoff Goldring at one, Ryland Byrd and Derek Hagino downed Nate Farlow and Toheeb Aroworovon, and Michael Fleming and Patrick Hughes defeated Justin Davis and Chad O'Neal.

In singles, Hughes defeataed Shasta Braithwater, 6-0, 6-0, at one; Byrd defeated Farlow at two, 6-0, 6-0; Cole Tecce beat Thompson at three, 6-0, 6-0; Joseph Brown downed Davis, 6-1, 6-0; Priyan Desilva topped Goldring, 6-0, 6-2; and Max Fritsch beat Aroworowon, 6-1, 6-0, at six.

UMW will host the winner of today's first round match between Southern Virginia and St. Mary's next Tuesday in the conference semifinals. The Eagles will visit Johns Hopkins University tomorrow.
