#13 UMW Men’s Tennis Sweeps Frostburg State, Wisconsin Whitewater on Sunday

The thirteenth-ranked University of Mary Washington men's tennis team swept Frostburg State University and the University of Wisconsin Whitewater, 9-0, on Sunday afternoon in Fredericksburg, VA. The Eagles improve to 12-3 overall, and 2-0 in the CAC.

Against Frostburg State, the Eagles secured the three doubles points. Moses Hutchison and Priyan Desilva won at one doubles 8-2, Patrick Hughes and Max Fritsch won at two doubles 8-0, and Matt Miles and Conor MacMurdy won at three doubles 8-2.

In singles action, Michael Fleming and Joseph Brown won 6-0, 6-0 at one and two singles. Desilva won 6-0, 6-1 at three singles, while Derek Hagino picked up a win at four singles 6-0, 6-0. Fritsch won at five singles 6-0, 6-0 and MacMurdy got the win at six singles 6-2, 5-7, 10-5.

In the next match against Wisconsin Whitewater, the Eagles kept the momentum going as they again took all three doubles matches. Hutchison and Miles won at one doubles 8-5, Ryland Byrd and Hagino won 8-1 at two doubles, and Fleming and Hughes won at three doubles 8-4.

Miles took the first win of singles at one winning 6-1, 6-0 and Hughes won at two singles 6-2, 6-0. Hutchison took three singles 6-3, 6-4, while Brown won at four singles 6-4, 6-4. Byrd took the victory at five singles 6-0, 6-1, and Cole Tecce won at six singles 6-1, 6-1.

UMW will be back in action on Saturday as they will take on in-state rival CNU at 1 p.m.
