Mary Washington sophomore Matt Miles earned CAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week recognition after winning all three of his singles matches and two out of three doubles matches in wins over Bates, Christopher Newport, and Franklin & Marshall. Against Bates, Miles posted a 6-4, 2-6, 7-6 win at No. 2 singles over Chris Ellis and teamed with Derek Hagino for an 8-2 triumph at No. 2 doubles. Against CNU, he downed Justin Cerny 6-1, 6-4 at the No. 2 position, helping UMW secure a crucial 5-4 victory. Against F&M, Miles won at No. 1 singles 6-1, 6-1 over Jack Rothman, and teamed with Hagino for an 8-3 victory at No. 2 doubles. Miles is ranked 49th in the nation, and 12th in the Middle Atlantic region.

In the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) rankings, Mary Washington is No. 21 and Christopher Newport is No. 28 ... Christopher Newport junior David Reed picked up two wins in a 5-4 loss to nationally-ranked Mary Washington. Reed earned his third win over a nationally-ranked opponent when he downed No. 46 Brandon Griffin at No. 1 singles (6-0, 6-1), and also won at No. 1 doubles (8-5) with partner Justin Cerny against Ryland Byrd and Michael Fleming ... In St. Mary's only match of the week, Zach Talamonti picked up the team's lone point as Talamonti won his fourth straight singles match with a 4-6, 6-0, 1-0 (10-4) triumph over Goucher's Chad Resnik at No. 6 singles ... Salisbury went 1-2 in three matches in California last week. Freshman Ian Siew was 2-1 in singles play at No. 2, while earning a win at No. 1 doubles against Occidental with classmate Colt Williamson ... Southern Virginia fell to Hampden-Sydney and Randolph-Macon last week. Sophomore Zachary Bowers posted a singles win vs. Hampden-Sydney at the No. 4 spot, 6-4, 4-6, 10-7, and teamed with T.J. Snelson for an 8-4 win at No. 1 doubles vs. Randolph-Macon.
