After picking up a win at one doubles agsint the second-ranked duo in the nation, the 15th ranked UMW men's tennis team dropped a 5-4 decision at #11 Pomona-Pitzer on Sunday in Claremont, Cal. Both teams move to 5-2 on the year.
The Eagles' duo of Tyler Carey and Evan Charles picked up a big win over Kalyan Chadalavada and Connor Hudson at one doubles, 8-6, but the Eagles fell 8-6 at two and 8-3 at three.
In singles, Stratton Gilmore picked up a 6-1, 6-0 win at two singles, and David Lunding-Johansson won at three, 6-3, 6-4. Brandon Griffin won in a third set superbreaker, 2-6, 7-6 (5), 10-7. The Sagehens clinched the match with a win at four with one match left on the courts.
The Eagles will be back in action on Monday, when they face #20 Cal Lutheran at 5:00 pm Eastern time.
