#17 Men's Tennis Falls to Division I Georgetown, 6-1, on Sunday

Fredericksburg, Va.-- The #17 University of Mary Washington men's tennis team fell 6-1 to Division I Georgetown on Sunday. The Eagles fell in two of the three doubles matches, and five of the six singles matches on the day. UMW moves to 12-4 on the year.

Tyler Carey and Evan Charles picked up a win at one doubles for the Eagles. The tandem defeated Alex Tropiano and Jack Murphy 9-7. The Hoyas won the other two matches to earn the doubles point, and take an early 1-0 lead.

Freshman Brandon Griffin earned the lone point for the Eagles on the day, winning at six singles. Griffin was a 6-3, 6-0 winner against Max Novak.

UMW returns to action with four matches next weekend. The Eagles take on Christopher Newport (3:00 p.m.) and Penn State-Harrisburg (6:00 p.m.) on Friday, before facing York (10:00 a.m.) and Swarthmore (2:00 p.m.) on Saturday. All four matches will be played in Fredericksburg.
