The University of Mary Washington men's tennis team, ranked #21 in the nation, defeated Bridgewater College, 6-3, in the team's spring opener on Sunday at the UMW Indoor Tennis Center. UMW won two of three doubles matches and four of six singles matches.

The Eagles of UMW won at one doubles with Tyler Carey and Kaleb Nguyen winning, 8-6, and at three doubles, as Marcell Rengifo and Ryan Byrd won, 8-5.

In singles, Alex Blakhin won in three sets, 1-6, 6-4, 10-6; Tyler Carey won at two singles, 6-2, 6-1; David Lunding-Johansson won at four, 6-3, 6-0, and Byrd won at six, 6-1, 6-1.

The Eagles took on George Mason University on Sunday evening.
