Ryan Sullivan begins his second season with the UMW men’s and women’s swimming programs as an assistant coach after spending his first year with the team as a volunteer assistant. In his first year with the Eagles, Sullivan was instrumental in recruiting a class of 21 outstanding swimmers, including several with A-final qualifying times for the Metropolitan Collegiate Swimming and Diving Conference Championship.

Sullivan graduated from Bloomsburg University in 2017 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental, Geographical, & Geological Sciences: Professional Geology and a minor in Spatial Analysis and GIS. As a student-athlete at Division II Bloomsburg University, Sullivan competed as a breaststroker and sprint freestyle specialist. He finished as high as 4th in 100 breaststroke at the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Championships in the 100 breaststroke.

After Graduation he worked as an environmental consultant for AKT Peerless for three years and as a lab technician for Dominion Engineering Associates. Outside of coaching at Mary Washington, Sullivan has also been a coach for the Rappahannock Area Stingrays Senior and Junior groups since May of 2021.

Sullivan serves as Mary Washington’s recruiting coordinating, he heads off-campus recruiting, and planning on campus visits. Sullivan also assists with race analysis for the current team’s swimmers, team travel logistics, meet line-up planning, academic monitoring, and practice planning.

His hometown is Lebanon, PA. He lives in Fredericksburg with his fiancé, Lauren and dog Kalvin.
