UMW Men's Swimming Splits Decisions; Beats York College 163-98, Falls to F & M 141-121

The University of Mary Washington men's swimming team split victories on Saturday at Franklin & Marshall College, as the Eagles topped the Spartans, 163-98, while falling to Franklin & Marshall, 141-121. The Eagles improve to 3-2 on the season.

Freshman Larry Almariento (Chesapeake, Va.) placed second in the 1000 freestyle at 10:26.74, freshman Conrad Tan (Skowhegan, Me.) in the 200 yard freestyle at 1:47.56, and freshman Johnathan Zimmer (Richmond, Va.) topped everyone in the 200 yard butterfly at 1:59.49. Ellis Winfree (Bloomfield, Ct.) won the 50 yard freestyle at 21.88, freshman Kyle Johnson (Cary, N.C.) placed second the 200 backstroke at 2:01.80, Sean Gitchell (Centreville, Va.) placed fourth the 500 free at 5:06.44, and Conrad Tan added another win in the 200 yard IM at 1.59.34.

The 400 free relay of Booner, Everett, Tan, and Burkey finished in fourth place with a time of 3:21.21 to cap the day.

The Eagles will be back in action on Friday, when they visit St. Mary's College of MD at 4:00 p.m.
