UMW Men’s Swimming Claims 26th CAC Championship

The University of Mary Washington men's swimming team claimed their 26th CAC Championship on Saturday in St. Mary's, MD. 

UMW finished in first by scoring 1,097 points. York came in second with 625 points, St. Mary's placed third with 386, Salisbury came in fourth with 382, and Southern Virginia placed fifth with 370 points. 

At the end of the meet, Kai Green was announced CAC Men's Rookie of the Year. Head coach Justin Anderson was named Men's Coaching Staff of the Year.

Senior Noah Carpenter brought home the first win in the last day of the championships for the Eagles as he won the 1650 yard freestyle with a time of 16:20.45. Austin Farrar took first in the 200 yard backstroke at 1:52.19. Brian Harnish won the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 46.25. Mark Dye captured first in the 200 yard breaststroke at 2:05.20. Bradley Torrington closed out the individual events with a first place finish in the 200 yard butterfly with a time of 1:53.05. The men closed out the meet as they took first In the 400 free relay with a team of Green, Matthew Scott, Farrar, and Harnish.

Gareth Mancini placed second in the 200 yard backstroke. Green came in third in the 100 yard IM, while Joshua Duke took third in the 200 yard butterfly.
