Dye, Farrar Gain B Cuts as UMW Men's Swimming Extends Lead at CAC Championships

Senior Mark Dye gained an NCAA provisional cut in the 100 yard breaststroke as the University of Mary Washington men's swimming team extended its lead at the 2020 Capital Athletic Conference Championships at St. Mary's College on Friday night. Senior Austin Farrar gained a B cut in the morniling preliminaries in the 400 IM as well.

Dye took first at 56.76, seven tenths of a second better than the "B" cut time, while Green took second at 57.13. Other winners for the Eagles included Noah Carpenter winning the 400 IM with a time of 4:01.74. Brian Harnish won the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:42.98, as the Eagles finished 1-2-3 in the event.  

Gareth Mancini won the 100 yard backstroke at 52.37, and the 400 yard medley relay finished first at 3:23.62. That relay consisted of Luke Bergstrom, Dye, Thomas Leckrone, and Harnish.

The meet will conclude on Saturday.
