The University of Mary Washington men's swim team defeated St. Mary's College on Saturday in its first meet of the new year. The Eagles improve to 5-1 on the season.
Winners for the Eagles included the 200 medley relay, who finished at 1:40.69, freshman Austin Farrar in the 1650 freestyle at 17:00.89, junior Kenyon Huber-Wilker in the 100 breaststroke at 1:01.20, senior Tyler Gimple in the 200 yard butterfly at 2:02.45, and senior Dallas Tarkenton in the 100 yard freestyle at 49.36.
Farrar won the 200 backstroke at 2:02.02, Huber-Wilker won the 200 breast at 2:16.25, Christian Berardo won the 100 fly at 54.27, Noah Carpenter won the 400 IM at 4:24.94, and the 200 free relays finished first and second as well.
UMW will be back in action on Thursday at 4 pm for their first home meet of 2017, against CAC foe Salisbury at 4 p.m.
