David Rojas Named Assistant Swimming Coach at UMW

UMW swimming head coach Abby Brethauer is pleased to announce the addition of David Rojas to the coaching staff for the 2013-2014 season.  A 2011 graduate of North Carolina State University with a degree in Human Biology, David has spent the last two years as a coach with the Marlins of Raleigh (NC) working closely with MOR head coach Paul Silver. While in Raleigh David coached the senior level group where he helped develop 3 Olympic Trials qualifiers, 1 US Open qualifier and 12 NSCA Junior National Swimmers.

"David comes to us with incredible knowledge of the sport and a passion for coaching that will be instrumental as we continue to build the program here at UMW. He comes to us with great coaching experience and glowing recommendations of his abilities; I couldn't be more excited to have him joining the staff," says Brethauer.

While his primary job will be the on-deck coaching, David will also play a large role in student-athlete development outside the pool as well as recruiting.

"I am excited to have this opportunity," Rojas said. "I look forward to meeting the team and sharing my experiences and love of the sport with the team."
