The University of Mary Washington men's and women's swimming teams are featured prominently in the 2012-13 College Swimming Awards' Profiles in Excellence. The publication recognizes the top swimming performances and competitors across all levels of NCAA swimming.
Freshmen Katie Fago and Vance Solseth were recognized as nominees for the Walk-On of the Year award, which was won by swimmers from Pepperdine University and Johns Hopkins. Junior Amber Kerico was featured as a nominee in the category of breakout female athlete, which was won by a swimmer from the University of Cal-Berkeley.
Alex Anderson was a nominee in the male breakout category, ranking third in the voting behind a swimmer from Arizona. Both the men and women were recognized as having breakout seasons, head coach Abby Brethauer, and assistant coach Jake Lewing were also recognized individually in Coach of the Year categories.
Both the men and women were also feted for their dominance in the Capital Athletic Conference championships, ranking in the category of male and female championship performances of the year.
