
Freshman Alex Anderson finished in ninth place in the
400 yard individual medley at the NCAA Division III swimming
championships in Indianapolis, Indiana on Thursday. Anderson, who
swam to a time of 4:00.43 in the preliminaries, actually swam the
fourth fastest time in the finals, but swam from the consolation
heat and placed ninth. His evening time of 3:55.72 broke his own
school and conference record by a full two seconds.
On the women's side, UMW's Amber Kerico finished in 25th place in
the 100 yard butterfly preliminaries with a time of 57.54 seconds.
Senior Megan DeSmit finished 40th in the 200 yard freestyle
preliminaries, with a time of 1:56.92.
All three swimmers will continue at the championships on
Friday.
