UMW Women's Swimming Gains 22nd Consecutive CAC Championship

The University of Mary Washington women's swimming team remained as the only team in any Capital Athletic Conference sport to win every single conference title, claiming the program's 22nd straight crown on Sunday in St. Mary's City, Md.

On Sunday, the Eagles gained wins from senior Kelly Scott in the 200 yard backstroke at 2:09.69 and senior Megan DeSmit in the 200 yard breastroke at 2:20.61, with Amber Kerico taking second at 2:20.84 - both of which are NCAA provisional qualifying times, and both broke the old conference and meet records.

Kerico was named the CAC Rookie of the Year by the conference coaches, and she and DeSmit will await potential invitation to the NCAA Tournament next month.
