The University of Mary Washington men's and women's swimming teams strengthened their grip on first place at the 2010 Capital Athletic Conference Swimming Championships on Saturday. The women hold a 222.5 point lead, while the men hold a 189 point advantage.

The women's 200 medley relay set a new CAC conference record and also set a strong NCAA provisional cut with a time of 1:46.87. That relay consisted of Megan DeSmit, Nina Sawyer, Adriana Lesiuk, and Sarah Crockett. The men's 200 medley relay (Stephen Clendenin, Austin Clark, Jason McCormack, Brian O'Donnell) also finished first with a time of 1:36.11.

In the 400 IM, freshman Cameron Figuers took second with an NCAA provisional time of 4:36.43. In the men's race, both Stephen Clendenin (4:01.81) and Nick Eckhoff (4:03.66) qualified provisionally for the NCAA Championships, and finished 1-2 in the race.

The 100 yard butterfly race saw Nina Sawyer and Adriana Lesiuk take second and third place with NCAA provisional times of 57.78 and 58.52. In the men's race, Billy Norfolk gained an NCAA provisional time of 51.23 in finishing first, while Jason McCormack was second at 52.47.

Sarah Crockett continued to show her national dominance in the 200 freestyle, finishing first with an NCAA automatic qualifying time of 1:52.04 which was also a new CAC Championship record. The Eagles finished 1-2-3-4 in the men;s 200 freestyle, with Brad Dunn taking first at 1:44.85, edging Brian O'Donnell at 1:44.88, and Justin Anderson at 1:44.96.

Megan DeSmit set a new CAC record in the 100 breaststroke at 1:05.91, which was a very strong NCAA provisional time. Austin Clark took first in the men's race at 59.49.

In the 100 yard backstroke, Sawyer took second with an NCAA provisional time of 59.44.

The women's 800 free relay finished first at 7:55.86, while the men hit an NCAA provisional time of 6:55.49. That relay consisted of Eckhoff, Clendenin, Dunn, and Anderson.
