YORK, Pa. -- Mary Washington junior STEPHEN CLENDENIN (Ashburn, Va./Home Schooled), freshman NICK ECKHOFF (Williamsburg, Va./Jamestown), Marymount sophomore ANNA MACEDONIA (Annandale, Va./Bishop O’Connell) and Mary Washington senior NINA SAWYER (Warrenton, Va./Liberty) were selected as the CAC Swimming Athletes of the Week for Jan. 26, 2010.


MEN’S SWIMMING
Mary Washington junior STEPHEN CLENDENIN (Ashburn, Va./Home Schooled) and freshman NICK ECKHOFF (Williamsburg, Va./Jamestown) was selected the CAC Men’s Swimming Co-Athletes of the Week after each won three events and set three pool records as the Eagles registered a non-conference win at Gettysburg Saturday. Clendenin took first in the 1000 freestyle (10:19.45), the 200 IM (1:58.53) and was a member of the 400 freestyle relay while Eckhoff won the 200 backstroke (1:57.91) and the 100 backstroke (54.86) and was member of the 400 free relay.

SPECIAL MENTION: Gallaudet sophomore BRIAN BENNETT (Colorado Springs, Colo./Colorado School for the Deaf) won five individual events in meets against Hood, Marymount and future CAC member Frostburg State, helping the Bison to their first victory of the season and their first conference triumph in two seasons.


WOMEN’S SWIMMING
Marymount sophomore ANNA MACEDONIA (Annandale, Va./Bishop O’Connell) and Mary Washington senior NINA SAWYER (Warrenton, Va./Liberty) were selected the CAC Women’s Swimming Co-Athletes of the Week after every race over the weekend and leading their respective teams to victories.
Macedonia took top honors in five individual events and contributed to two victorius relays as the Saints posted wins over Gallaudet, Frostburg and Catholic. She won the 100 backstroke (1:00.25), 200 IM (2:16.83) and was on the 200 medley relay (1:56.70) Friday against GU and FSU. Saturday, when the Saints split with Catholic and Washington & Lee, she won the 100 backstroke (1:00.38), 200 backstroke (2:12.29), 200 IM (2:16.25) and contributed to the gold medal 400 freestyle relay(3:48.94).
Sawyer led the Eagles to a non-conference win at Gettysburg by winning three individual events - the 100 butterfly (59.80), 200 butterfly (2:13.98), 200 individual medley (2:14.40) - and contributing to the first-place 200 medley relay (1:52.40) that gave UMW the early lead against the Bullets. All four of her performances were unrested season bests and pool records at Gettysburg’s Aquatic Center.
