For the men, junior Stephen Clendenin (Ashburn, Va., Home Schooled) finished in 16th place in the 400 yard individual medley with a time of 4:01.91, after swimming 4:00.60 in the morning preliminaries. Also in the prelims, freshman Nick Eckhoff (Williamsburg, Va., Jamestown) placed 26th at 4:10.29.
The Eagle women had a big day, as the 200 yard free relay finished 15th in the finals with a time of 1:37.24. That relay consisted of Sarah Crockett (Toano, Va., Lafayette), Cameron Figuers (Cary, N.C., Cardinal Gibbons), Nina Michelle Sawyer (Warrenton, Va. , Liberty), and Adriana Lesiuk (Bensalem, Pa., Nazareth ). The 400 medley relay finished in seventh place in gaining All-America honors and finishing with a time of 3:54.47. Crockett, Megan DeSmit (Bridgewater, Va. , Turner Ashby), Sawyer, and Lesiuk competed on that relay.
Individually, Sarah Crockett finished 13th in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:52.80, after going 1:51.55 in prelims to gain All-America honors for the fourth time this year. In other action on Thursday, freshman Cameron Figuers took 29th in the 400 IM at 4:39.19 and Nina Sawyer placed 17th in the 100 yard butterfly at 57.19.
After two days of competition, the men stand in 45th place, while the women are currently in a tie for 15th place with 34 points. The championships will continue on Friday.
