WOMEN’S CROSS COUNTRY
Mary Washington junior KRISTY WITEK (Fairfax, Va./Chantilly) was selected as the CAC Women’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week for the second time this season after placing fifth overall and leading the Eagles to second place in the team standings at the Battle of the Buggy in Lancaster (Pa.) County Park, hosted by Elizabethtown College. Witek covered the course in 26:12 and was the top CAC finisher in the race.
MEN’S SWIMMING
Mary Washington junior All-American STEPHEN CLENDENIN (Ashburn, Va./Homeschooled) was selected the CAC Men’s Swimming Athlete of the Week. Clendenin, who was the Oct. 20 Division III national Swimmer of the Week by collegeswimming.com, won the 200 butterfly (1:58.29) and 200 IM (1:59.98) as UMW topped Washington & Lee for the first time in team history. Last week, in a loss at NCAA Division I rival William & Mary, Clendenin picked up UMW’s lone victory in the 400 IM.

Mary Washington junior All-American SARAH CROCKETT (Toano, Va./Lafayette) was selected the CAC Women’s Swimming Athlete of the Week after recording four victories in UMW’s first two meets of the season. Crockett, the 2008 CAC Rookie of the Year, swept the 100 freestyle (54.44), 200 freestyle (1:58.08) and 500 freestyle (5:21.59) in the Eagles’ season-opening victory over Washington & Lee. She then picked up one of just two UMW wins against NCAA Division I William & Mary, touching the wall in the 100 freestyle in 54.63.
