United Soccer Coaches Names UMW, Jason Kilby as Region VI Coaching Staff of the Year For Second Consecutive Year

The University of Mary Washington men's soccer staff led by head coach Jason Kilby, earned Region VI honors as the 'Coaching Staff of the Year,' the United Soccer Coaches announced on Friday afternoon. It marks a second-straight honor for Kilby & Co.

The Eagles' staff led UMW through its Sweet 16 run in 2023 -- one that saw the Eagles ranked as high as No. 1 in the country for two weeks, while hovering as a top-four team for the entire season. Kilby and his staff were chosen as the Coast-to-Coast Conference's Staff of the Year after winning 18 games -- a new best in the Jason Kilby era.

Under Kilby's leadership, Mary Washington has reached the NCAA Tournament in five of the past six full seasons, which includes the Eagles' Final Four run a season ago. The Eagles will return starters such as forward Carter Berg, keeper Freddy Rogers, and Nathan Macek on the backline among others for the 2024 season.

Kilby, along with assistant coaches Mike Webb, David Yates, and Keith Moser will be recognized at the College Coaches Awards Ceremony at the United Soccer Coaches Convention will be recognized at the College Coaches Awards Ceremony at the United Soccer Coaches Convention on Thursday, January 11, 2024, in Anaheim, Calif.  In addition, the Region Staff of the Year recipients will be placed on the ballot for National Staff of the Year consideration within their respective NCAA division. National Staff of the Year voting opens December 6, 2023.
