No. 2 UMW men's soccer Rolls Over Gettysburg, 4-1

In typical fashion as of late, No. 2 Mary Washington men's soccer beat down another opponent on Tuesday afternoon. The victim, this time, was Gettysburg in the Eagles' 4-1 victory over the Bullets in Fredericksburg, Va.

The Eagles scored 18 minutes into the match thanks to Aidan Shell's feed to Nelsar Castillo, who netted his third goal of the season. UMW took a 1-0 lead into the half, using 13 shots on four corners.

Quickly into the second half, Josh Kirkland netted his eighth goal of the season on an unassisted finish in the 55th minute. Twelve minutes later, Deigo Guzman, off of a feed from Blake Hoskins, added the Eagles' third goal of the afternoon.

A Gettysburg goal in the 82nd minute trimmed Mary Washington's lead down to a pair, 3-1, but Elyass Fekrat -- off the feed from his twin brother Edres -- drove UMW's lead back up to three, 4-1, in the 89th minute.

Freddy Rogers recorded his 10th win in goal, adding five saves on eight total shots faced. Mary Washington, who has recorded at least 19 shots in each the previous five games, totaled 30 shots on Tuesday. It marked the third such time the Eagles had done that this season.

Mary Washington recorded four more corners in the second half to run its total to eight for the day, holding Gettysburg to none.

The Eagles are back in action this weekend down at Christopher Newport (7 p.m.) on Saturday then travel up to St. Mary's (Md.) on Sunday (4 p.m.)
