#4 UMW Men's Soccer Tops Hobart, 2-1, on Saturday in Baltimore

The fourth-ranked University of Mary Washington men's soccer team defeated Hobart College, 2-1, on Saturday afternoon in Baltimore, Md. The Eagles improve to 3-0 on the season.

The Eagles opened the scoring a 12:11, as All-America senior Josh Kirkland scored on a Carter Berg assist. UMW's lead was short lived, as Hobart knotted the score at 1-1 seven minutes later, and the score remained deadlocked through halftime.

UMW jumped back ahead, however, as sophomore Elyass Fekrat neted his first goal of the season on an assist from Diego Guzman, at 67:29. The Eagles survived a scare in the final 10 minutes on an offsides call, and again in the final minute, as a Hobart shot sailed just high.

In all, the Eagles led in shots, 18-9, as well as corner kicks, 6-5. UMW goalkeeper Freddy Rogers made two saves in gaining the victory.

UMW will be back in action on Sunday when they face Lycoming College at 2:00 p.m. at Johns Hopkins.
