Another day, another four goal game for No. 4 Mary Washington.
After scoring four times on Friday against RPI, the Eagles netted four more goals against a top 10 team in No. 7 Johns Hopkins.
After 43 minutes of scoreless play, some back and forth and even after UMW grew into the game, Micheal Lenhard unleashed a shot from inside the box that found the back of the net for the Eagles' first goal of the afternoon to take a 1-0 lead heading into the half. Coming out, it only took nine minutes for Carter Berg to find the back of net on an unassisted goal in the 54th minute.
Then Josh Kirkland, using the momenutm that Mary Wash had taken since the 20th minute, scored Mary Washington's third goal on a penalty kick that was issued because of a yellow card recieved by Johns Hopkins' keeper.
And finally, Edres Ferkat finished off UMW's second-straight four goal game to start the 2023 season off of a feed from Joel Albritton.
Freddy Rogers finished off his second clean sheet in as many tries in net for the Eagles.
Mary Washington heads up to Baltimore, Md. next weekend to take on Hobart (Saturday, Sept. 9) and Lycoming (Sunday, Sept. 10).
