Kirkland Repeats as Offensive Player of Year as C2C M. Soccer Teams Announced

Senior forward Josh Kirkland (Richmond, Va./Deep Run) was named Offensive Player of the Year for the second straight year, and was one of five Eagles recognized, as the 2022 All-Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Team was released on Wednesday afternoon. Kirkland was joined on the first team by sophomore forward Carter Berg (Reston, Va./South Lakes) and senior defender Jacob Kautzman (Springfield, Va./South County). Senior midfielder Abel Luwis (McLean, Va./Hearts of the Lord) and senior goalkeeper Griffin Hemmendinger (Norfolk, Va./Granby) were named to the second team.

Kirkland was voted as the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Year for the second straight season. Kirkland leads the C2C in goals, with 15, and points, with 32, and gained United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division III Offensive Player of the Week, as well as C2C Offensive Player of the Week three times this season. He is currently ninth in all of Division III in goals per game, with 1.0 score per contest.

Berg repeats as an all-conference selection in his second collegiate season, as he has netted seven goals and picked up five assists for 19 points. Three of his scores were game winners, against Emory, Catholic, and Gettysburg.

Kautzman repeats as a first team all-league selection at defender. In addition to his fine defense, he scored his first collegiate goal this season - the game winner in the opener against North Carolina Wesleyan.

Luwis repeats as an all-conference pick in 2022. He has scored one goal and added five assists for seven points. His score came aganst nationally-ranked SUNY Cortland.

Hemmendinger gains all-conference in his first season between the pipes for the Eagles. He has achieved a 1.54 GAA, with 43 saves, and a .672 save percentage.

The Eagles will open play in the C2C Tournmaent on Friday in semifinal action at 2 p.m., against an opponent to be deterined in first round action.
