UMW's Josh Kirkland, Jacob Kautzman Named C2C Soccer Players of the Week

The Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) has announced its weekly awards following the eighth week of the 2022 men's soccer season. Mary Washington senior forward Josh Kirkland earned C2C Offensive Player of the Week accolades, while Eagles' senior defender Jacob Kautzman claimed C2C Defensive Player of the Week honors.


OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Josh Kirkland - Mary Washington

Mary Washington's Josh Kirkland led the Eagles to a pair of wins this week, scoring four goals with two game-winners. On Wednesday vs. St. Mary's (Md.), Kirkland scored a pair of goals, including the game-winner, in a 3-0 victory. Then, on Saturday, Kirkland netted a pair of goals in the first 26 minutes of action, including the eventual game-winner, in a 3-2 win over #16 Christopher Newport. Kirkland leads the C2C in scoring with 15 goals and 32 points.


DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK:  Jacob Kautzman - Mary Washington

Mary Washington's Kautzman led the Eagles' defense to a shutout in a 3-0 victory over St. Mary's College on Wednesday and to a victory over #16 Christopher Newport on Saturday in the Eagles' Homecoming game. The all-conference defender, honored at halftime Saturday as the school's Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2021-22, has helped the Eagles to a 9-3-2 record this season, including a perfect 5-0-0 record this month.
