UMW Men's Soccer Slips to #10 Cortland, 3-2

The University of Mary Washington men's soccer team dropped a 3-2 decision to 10th ranked Cortland State University on Sunday at Homewood Field in Baltimore. The Eagles slip to 3-2 on the season.

Cortland gined the upper hand with the first goal of the game - the only tally of the first half, at 18:24. UMW tied the score in the 58th minute on a goal from Juan Vargas, but the Dragons regained the leadeight minutes later.

The Eagles again knotted the score on an Abel Luwis goal at 81:13, but Cortland answered a minute later to retake the lead for good.

Mary Washington led in shots, 13-9, as well as corner kicks, 10-4. UMW goalkeeper Griffin Hemmendinger made one save on the day.

The Eagles will be back in action next Saturday when they visit Roanoke College at 4:00 p.m.
