UMW Men's Soccer Falls at CNU, 2-1, on Saturday Night

The University of Mary Washington men's soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision at Christopher Newport University on Saturday night in Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference action in Newport News, Va. The Eagles slip to 5-3-1 on the season.

The Eagles fell behind, 1-0, in the 15th minute, and trailed throughout the rest of the first half, and into the second. Then, at 63:17, the Eagles tied the score on a goal from freshman Joren Santana, coming on an assist from Gabe Francesconi

The Captains regained the lead three minutes later, and held on for the 2-1 victory.

CNU led in shots, 12-11, as well as corner kicks, 5-3. UMW goalkeeper Ken Kurtz made three saves for the Eagles on the night.

UMW will return to action on Tuesday against Catholic University at 4:00 p.m. in a nonconference game at the Battleground.
