CAC -- The Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) has announced its weekly awards following the eighth week of the 2019 men's soccer season. Salisbury senior midfielder Ryan Spadin earned CAC Offensive Player of the Week accolades, while Mary Washington senior defender Ben Ahrens claimed CAC Defensive Player of the Week honors.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Ryan Spadin - Salisbury
Salisbury senior Ryan Spadin scored the game-winning goal against St. Mary's on Saturday to help Salisbury stay perfect in two games this week and avenge two previous losses.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Ben Ahrens - Mary Washington
Senior defender Ben Ahrens led Mary Washington to a pair of shutouts this week, as the Eagles blanked Southern Virginia and Christopher Newport. Ahrens scored a goal against the Knights, and led a defense that allowed just 14 shots (five on frame) in 181:25 of play.

LEAGUE NOTES
York junior McClain Smith scored his second goal of the year in the 1-0 win over Southern Virginia ... Smith has two goals and both have been game-winners in 1-0 Spartan victories...Freshman Josh Kappes recorded his third shutout win in his four starts with a clean sheet on two saves against Southern Virginia on Saturday...Christopher Newport defender Derek Cook scored two goals in a 4-1 win at St. Mary's (Md.). Became just the second player in program history to deliver six penalty kick goals in a single season when he improved to 6-for-6. Leader of a defense that allowed just one goal in each game this week...Salisbury freshman goalkeeper Gabe Dunn tallied 10 saves in a pair of wins in net for the Sea Gulls. Dunn collected the first win and shutout of his career in a 1-0 win on Wednesday over York.
