UMW Men's Soccer Battles Catholic to Scoreless Draw on Wednesday

The University of Mary Washington men's soccer team battled homestanding Catholic University to a scoreless tie in Washington, D.C. on a rainy Wednesday afternoon. The Eagles and Cardinals both move to 1-1-1 on the season.

Both teams had numerous chances during play, with 31 total shots, and 16 on frame, but neither could solve the other's defense. Catholic led in shots, 16-15, while UMW led in shots on goal, 9-7. The Eagles also led in corner kicks, 8-2. UMW goalkeeper Matt Spencer made seven saves for the Eagles, while Ryan Cassidy had nine stops for CUA.

Mary Washington will be back in action on Saturday when they visit North Carolina Wesleyan College at 2:00 p.m.
