UMW Men's Soccer Falls at Christopher Newport in 2016 CAC Championship, 1-0

The University of Mary Washington men's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision at Christopher Newport University on Saturday night in Newport News in the 2016 Capital Athletic Conference championship. The loss drops the Eagles to 14-4 on the season.

The Captains scored the game's only score at 11:01 on an Andrew Gogolin score. After a slow start, the Eagles applied consistent pressure in the second half, but were unable to find the tying tally despite nine second half shots.

In all, both teams had 12 shots on goal, and both teams had three corner kicks. UMW goalkeeper Matt Spencer had five saves, while CNU's Zach Pedini had four stops.

The Eagles will await their fate for the NCAA Championship tournament, with the announcement of the bracket coming on Monday at 1:00 p.m. on NCAA.com.
