UMW Men's Soccer Blanks Marymount, 3-0, on Saturday

The University of Mary Washington men's soccer team defeated Marymount University, 3-0, on Saturday afternoon in Capital Athletic Conference action. The Eagles improve to 8-3 on the season, and 1-1 in league play.

The Eagles started fast, as junior Riley Fisher scored at 5:19 off a deflected shot. The Eagles had several more chances in the first half, but went to intermission with a 1-0 lead.

In the second half, UMW upped the pressure and found the nets at 55:47 on a score from Christian Trout. The Eagles added another insurance tally at 96:05 as Mitchell Williams scored unassisted.

The Eagles led in shots, 17-7, and had seven corner kicks to three for the Saints. Sophomore Matt Spencer had four saves in gaining the shutout, his eighth of the season. Logan Cropper had six saves for Marymount.

Mary Washington will return to action on Tuesday when they host Frostburg State University at 4:00 p.m. in another key CAC contest.
