Fisher, Noguiera's Scores Lift UMW Men's Soccer Past Catholic, 2-0

Junior Riley Fisher and sophomore Conor Noguiera scored a pair of goals just 4:16 apart early in the first half to lead the University of Mary Washington men's soccer team to a 2-0 victory at Catholic University on Wednesday afternoon in Washington, D.C. The Eagles improve to 4-0 on the season.

After Catholic gained the first two shots of the game, Fisher tallied his third goal in as many games, scoring unassisted at 13:55. At 18:11, Noguiera found the nets on an assist from Robert Tata, as UMW scored on their first two chances.

The teams battled throughout the rest of the contest, with neither side finding a score.  The Eagles led in shots, 17-14, and had a pair of corner kicks to one for CUA. Sophomore goalie Matt Spencer had five saves for UMW, extending his shutout streak to start the season to four games. Catholic's Zachery Tashjy had 11 saves for the Cardinals.

The Eagles will be back in action on Friday night, when they face William Patterson University in Galloway, N.J. at 7:30 p.m.
