UMW's Tyler Back Named CAC Defensive Player of the Week

York junior forward ANTONIO BUA (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) was selected as the CAC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week while Mary Washington freshman goalie TYLER BACK (Falls Church, Va./George Mason) and York senior goalie ETHAN KAVANAGH (Woodstown, N.J./Woodstown) were picked as the CAC Men's Soccer Co-Defensive Players of the Week.

Bua led the surging Spartans to a pair of wins last week.  He scored the only goal of the match, with 20 minutes remaining in regulation, in a non-conference midweek win at Gettysburg.  He then scored the first goal in a 3-1 win at Frostburg State that lifted YCP past the Bobcats into third place in the CAC standings.

Back allowed just one goal in two CAC outings to help the Eagles move into first place and clinch one of the top two seeds (and a first-round bye) in the upcoming CAC playoffs.  At Hood, Back had two saves to record his third shutout in seven starting assignments, then recorded three saves on eight shots in a 2-1 overtime victory over Wesley Saturday.  For the season, Back boasts a 4-1-3 record with 35 saves and a 0.79 goals against average.

Kavanagh picked up his fourth shutout of the season, recording five saves in a 1-0 midweek non-conference win at Gettysburg.  He then added three saves on 10 Frostburg State shots as the Spartans gained a 3-1 road win to move into third place in the CAC standings.  For the season, Kavanaugh owns an .812 save percentage and a 0.81 goals against average.
