UMW Men's Soccer Ties NC Wesleyan, 1-1

The University of Mary Washington men's soccer team played 110 minutes of soccer on Wednesday at North Carolina Wesleyan College in a 1-1 draw. The Eagles move to 4-4-1 on the season.

After a scoreless first half, the Eagles reached the scoreboard first, as sophomore David Heller (Alexandria, Va., Mount Vernon) scored on a Robby Davis (Locust Grove, Va., James Monroe) assist at 68:24. The Battling Bishops tied the score at one 10 minutes later, and both teams played scoreless through regulation and two scoreless overtimes.

In a very evenly matched game, each team had 14 shots, and both teams had seven corner kicks. Freshman Tyler Back (Falls Church, Va., George Mason) made five saves in goal for the Eagles, while NC Wesleyan made four saves.

The Eagles will visit Frostburg State University on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in a key CAC contest.
