UMW Men's Soccer Falls at York, 2-0, in CAC Semifinals


The University of Mary Washington men's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision at York College of Pa on Wednesday in the Capital Athletic Conference semifinals. UMW's season comes to a close with a 10-6-2 record.

York scored in the opening minutes and the closing seconds of the first half for the two-goal margin. Mike Gill scored at 5:31 and Mike O'Connell added an insurance tally just two seconds before halftime.

The Spartans outshot the Eagles, 20-11, and led in corners, 7-3. UMW freshman Blake Weiss (Midland, Va., Liberty) had five saves for the Eagles while Jesse Derksen had five for York.
