Tutor's Two Scores Lead UMW Men's Soccer Past Catholic, 2-1

Senior forward T.L. Tutor (Islesboro, Me., Gould Academy) scored a pair of goals as the University of Mary Washington men's soccer came from behind to top Catholic University, 2-1, on Thursday at the Battleground. UMW remains unbeaten at 4-0-1 on the year.

Catholic took the early lead, as Ian Smith scored on an assist from Matt Hofrichter at 10:04. Tutor, who has scored six goals in UMW's first five games, netted the tying score unassisted at 36:50.

Less than four minutes into the second half, Tutor scored again, this time on an assist from junior Bram Sims (Boston, Va., Culpeper), for the game winner. The goal came on UMW's lone shot of the half.

Catholic held an 8-7 edge in shots, and had nine corner kicks to three for UMW. Junior goalie Hunter Wootten (Westhampton Beach, N.Y., Westhampton Beach) had three saves for the Eagles, while Quinn Daly didn't register a save for CUA.

Mary Washington will visit Wesley College on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. in a Capital Athletic Conference match.
