UMW Men's Soccer ties TCNJ, 1-1


Senior T.L. Tutor (Islesboro, Me., Gould Academy) scored his third goal of the season in the 33rd minute, but The College of New Jersey responded with a second half tally to knot the score in a 1-1 tie at the Battleground on Saturday in the UMW Soccer Classic. The Eagles move to 1-0-1, while TCNJ stands at 0-1-1.

Tutor opened the scoring at 32:29 unassisted as he took a loose ball in the penalty area and deposited it into the open goal, giving UMW a 1-0 lead, which they held to intermission.

TCNJ answered at 71:54, when Taylor Gregory scored unassisted. The two teams battled through the end of regulation and two overtimes without finding a winning score.

TCNJ led in shots, 13-11. UMW's Alec Constantine (McLean, Va., Langley) had eight saves and TCNJ's Aaron Utman had three. UMW held a 7-4 advantage in corner kicks.

The Eagles will play Gettysburg College on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. in the final game of the UMW Classic. TCNJ will face Lynchburg at 1:00 p.m.
