UMW Men's Soccer Tops Gallaudet to Remain Perfect in CAC Play

FREDERICKSBURG, VA - Eight different players scored goals to lead the University of Mary Washington men's soccer team to a 9-0 victory over Gallaudet University in Capital Athletic Conference play on Wednesday at the Battleground. The Eagles improve to 10-4 on the season, and remain perfect in CAC play at 5-0.

The Eagles jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead, as Duke Mensah-Abrampah (Gainesville, Va., Battlefield) scored at 1:10 and senior Ryan Taibl (Centreville, Va., Westfield) scored 39 seconds later. Junior T.L. Tutor (Islesboro, Me., Gould Academy) scored in the 11th minute on an assist from Matt Lawrey, and freshman Julian Nienaber (Germantown, Md., Bullis) upped the lead to 4-0 in the 39th minute. 

The second half saw Eagle scores from Matt Alter (Rumson, N.J., Rumson Fairhaven Regional) in the 58th minute, Corey Sims (Boston, Va., Culpeper) in the 60th minute, Jimmy Ford (Nokesville, Va., Brentsville) in the 63rd minute, Patch Owen (Chapel, N.C., East Chapel Hill) in the 66th minute, and an own goal in the 69th minute.

The Eagles outshot the Bison, 31-1, and had nine corner kicks to one for Gallaudet. UMW goalies Emmett Rutkowski, Alec Constantine, Matt Eby, and Larry Knight combined for the shutout. Gallaudet's Poloko Qobose had five saves.

The Eagles will host York College for Homecoming on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
